ChatGPT…well, a study by Stanford University and UC Berkeley revealed that GPT-4’s output has actually degraded.

• Assembly AI’s new ASR Model: Conformer 2 is the latest AI model for automatic speech recognition, trained on 1.1 million hours of English audio data. The model enhances recognition of proper nouns, alphanumerics, and noise robustness. 55% faster than Conformer 1, it brings down the transcription time of an hour-long audio file from 4.01 minutes to 1.85 minutes.

• No, We Were Not Hallucinating, it’s OpenAI: Study reveals significant worsening of GPT 3.5 and GPT 4 performance, while evaluating on various math problems, sensitive/dangerous QA, code tasks, and visual reasoning tasks. Here are some observations:

  • GPT-4’s accuracy worsened from 97.6% in March 2023 to 2.4% in June 2023 in identifying prime numbers. GPT 3.5 showed improvement in the same task.

  • GPT-4 became less open to responding to sensitive questions.

• • The number of directly executable code generations declined for both models.

  • The output did not change from March to June for about 90% of the visual reasoning queries.

• Riding the Llama 2 Wave: Scale AI released the following:

• McKinsey & Cohere Join Hands: Consultancy giant McKinsey partners with Cohere to offer AI solutions to its enterprise clients for improving customer engagement, workflow automation, and internal efficiency.

• Change Background with Words: Google is testing AI-generated video backgrounds using text prompts for Google Meet in its Workspace Labs.
