Latest Developments

Indian AI startup Sarvam AI has launched its full-stack generative AI platform, packed with products and services specifically designed for Indian languages. This includes the open-weighted Sarvam-2B, a powerful 2B parameter language model, alongside a diverse toolkit featuring text-to-speech, speech-to-text, and even a specialized AI assistant for legal professionals called A1. The company has strategically partnered with industry leaders like Nvidia and Microsoft to ensure a robust and high-performing AI infrastructure.

Key Highlights:

  1. Sarvam-2B - This 2 billion parameter model, trained on 2 trillion tokens outperforms larger models like Llama 3.1 and GPT-4o in translation. It supports 10 Indian languages and is available on Hugging Face for non-commercial and research purposes.

  2. Shuka v1 to Understand Audio in Indic Languages - This innovative encoder-decoder model combines Sarvam’s audio encoder with Meta's Llama-3, for developers to work with audio data in Indian languages and create exciting new voice-based applications.

  3. Text-to-Speech and Speech-to-Text - Bulbul 1.0 offers versatile text-to-speech functionality in 10 Indian languages with six distinct voice options. Complementing this, Saaras 1.0 and Saarika provide accurate speech-to-text conversion, also supporting 10 Indian languages with automatic language identification.

  4. Voice-Enabled AI - SarvamAgents empowers businesses to enhance customer experiences with voice-driven AI agents capable of understanding and responding in multiple Indian languages on WhatsApp.

  5. Expanding the AI Toolkit - Beyond these, Sarvam AI provides a translation API (Mayura 1.0), a generative AI workbench for legal professionals (A1), and other specialized tools designed to cater to a wide range of industry needs.

No more one-size-fits-all for AI. Arcee AI has released Arcee Swarm, a novel architecture that leverages a network of specialized AI agents instead of relying on a single LLM. This "Mixture of Agents" approach provides more accurate and efficient results, especially for complex tasks requiring domain-specific knowledge. Arcee Swarm intelligently routes your requests to the right expert AI agent, and even offers a collaborative "Ultra Mode" for tackling critical problems. It will be available for use in the coming weeks.

Key Highlights:

  1. Domain-Specific Expertise - Arcee Swarm employs specialized AI models with 8-12B parameters, trained in areas like legal, finance, scientific research, creative writing, and coding. This targeted expertise translates to more accurate and contextually relevant responses.

  2. Smart Routing - The intelligent "router" model acts as a central hub, quickly analyzing your query and directing it to the most suitable specialist agent. This ensures faster processing and more relevant results.

  3. Ultra Mode - For tasks demanding the highest accuracy, activate "Ultra Mode." This engages multiple specialist agents to work together, iteratively refining solutions and achieving a consensus through critical evaluation. This minimizes errors and maximizes the chances of finding the best possible solution.

Quick Bites

  1. Google has quietly made its latest text-to-image AI model, Imagen 3, available to all U.S. users through its ImageFX platform. Imagen 3 was announced in the I/O event in May. The results are great but is wrapped with very heavy guardrails.

  2. Stanford’s AI professor Fei-Fei Li’s AI startup, World Labs, has raised $100M now valued at over $1 billion just four months after its founding. World Labs aims to create AI models that accurately estimate the 3D physicality of real-world objects, which could have significant applications in gaming, robotics, and more.

  3. Primate Labs has released Geekbench AI that tests the performance of CPUs, GPUs, and NPUs across various AI workloads. It supports multiple frameworks and aims to measure both speed and accuracy for machine learning tasks on devices with compatible NPUs.

Tools of the Trade

  1. Napkin: Turns your text into editable visuals, like diagrams and charts, without needing to write any prompts. You can quickly create and customize visuals, then export them for use in presentations, blogs, and social media.

  2. Voicepal: A ghostwriting tool that helps creators quickly turn ideas into first drafts, capturing and organizing thoughts through speaking or typing. It generates polished drafts in seconds, matching your style.

  3. GPT Wrapper Generator: Create complete GPT wrappers, including frontend UI, API routes, JSON schema, and custom prompts. Just give a simple prompt, and copy and paste the provided files into your Next.js app.

  4. Awesome LLM Apps: Build awesome LLM apps using RAG for interacting with data sources like GitHub, Gmail, PDFs, and YouTube videos through simple texts. These apps will let you retrieve information, engage in chat, and extract insights directly from content on these platforms.

Hot Takes

  1. Really not hearing anything from any of the AI labs anymore that they think scaling limits for AI are close
They still have to prove that you can scale past GPT-4 levels, of course, but lots of agreement in public & private statements that this won’t be an issue. Time will tell ~

  2. Before the full AGI arrives there will be an amazing arbitrage opportunity for those who understand how to build with AI and those who don’t. ~
