Latest Developments 🌍

ChatGPT will soon have the “Connected Apps” feature, integrating with Google Drive and Microsoft One Drive. This will let you attach documents from the cloud directly in ChatGPT, saving the unnecessary hassle of downloading the document first and uploading it again.

Keep a look in your Settings for this feature! It has already been rolled out to select ChatGPT Plus users.

The most important part of using AI chatbots is understanding how to talk to them. Identifying the right words and clearly articulating your prompt to tell exactly what you want the AI to do is challenging. Addressing this pain point, Microsoft is introducing new features like auto-complete, rewriting, and prompt manager in Copilot for Microsoft 365 to help you tell the Copilot what you want.

Key Highlights:

  1. Autocomplete and Rewrite: Copilot will offer auto-complete suggestions to help you put the right words in the prompt. When you know what to ask but are not sure how to, the Rewrite feature will transform your basic prompts into more detailed ones.

  2. Catch Up: A new chat interface that shows insights based on your recent activity, and provides recommendations, like “You have a meeting with the sales VP on Thursday. Let’s get you prepared — click here to get detailed notes.”

  3. Prompts in Copilot Lab: Here you can create, publish, and manage prompts for the work you and your team do. These prompts can then be directly used without re-typing or drafting the whole thing.

Google DeepMind and Isomorphic Labs have unveiled AlphaFold 3, a new AI model that can predict the 3D structure and interactions of various biomolecules, including proteins, DNA, RNA, and ligands. It builds upon the success of AlphaFold 2 to encompass a wider range of molecules and their interactions. AlphaFold 3 offers unprecedented accuracy, providing insights into the intricate mechanisms of life and accelerating drug discovery.

Key Highlights:

  1. Predicts interactions: AlphaFold 3 can model how different molecules, like proteins and drugs, fit together, offering valuable information for drug development.

  2. Unmatched accuracy: It surpasses existing methods in predicting molecular interactions, achieving over 50% improvement in some cases.

  3. Beyond proteins: AlphaFold 3 expands on its predecessor by predicting structures and interactions of DNA, RNA, and small molecule ligands.

  4. Rendering the structure: AlphaFold 3 uses a diffusion model starting with a fuzzy cloud of atoms based on the predictions, and over many steps renders the final molecular structure. It provides a high-definition view of systems, revealing the complex interplay of structures, interactions, and modifications.

  5. Why this is important: AlphaFold 1 & 2 models were a big leap in protein structuring, however, they could not predict interactions between proteins and other biomolecules, which is crucial for understanding biological processes and designing drugs. AlphaFold 3 can have a transformative impact on drug discovery, hormone production, and DNA repair mechanisms.

Microsoft has developed and deployed a GPT-4-based model specifically designed for US intelligence agencies. This system operates completely offline so that highly classified information can be analyzed on-premise without any risk of data leaks or external interference. This is the first time a major LLM operates in a fully air-gapped environment.

Key Highlights:

  1. Secure Cloud Environment: The model and its supporting elements are placed on a special cloud network accessible only by the US government.

  2. Static Model: The GPT-4 model is static, meaning it can process and analyze files but cannot learn from them or access external data. This prevents the absorption of classified information into the platform.

  3. Project Timeline: Microsoft spent 18 months developing this system, including overhauling an existing AI supercomputer in Iowa.

Tools of the Trade ⚒️

  1. Audio Inpainting in Udio: Udio lets you create entire songs including the lyrics with just a single prompt. They have released a new Inpainting feature where you can select a portion of a track to re-generate based on the surrounding context, fix errors, edit lines, smoothen transitions, and more.

  • Open-source text analytics platform for LLM apps that provides tools for testing, evaluation, monitoring, and guardrails at the semantic level for your app.

  • Gain a deeper understanding of user behavior by setting up custom metrics, detecting usage patterns, and triggering actions based on real-time analytics.

  • Phospho now also provides a multimodal LLM API for the app to process and understand images alongside text, giving a better conversation experience to customers.

  1. StealthGPT: Generate content that bypasses AI detection systems like Turnitin, GPTZero, and others. It achieves this by understanding the methods used by AI detectors and generating unique content each time to avoid plagiarism. Also, it is multi-lingual.

  2. Awesome LLM Apps: Build awesome LLM apps using RAG for interacting with data sources like GitHub, Gmail, PDFs, and YouTube videos through simple texts. These apps will let you retrieve information, engage in chat, and extract insights directly from content on these platforms.

Hot Takes 🔥

  1. AI assistants will have massive lock-in, because they will hyper-personalize themselves by interacting with you - and learning on ported data, even if it’s possible, won’t be the same. ~ Pedro Domingos

  2. Just saying - AlphaFold 2 was open-sourced, but the new AlphaFold 3 is closed-source... What happened to the DeepMind of yesteryears... the one that believed in benefitting all humanity? Guess it got merged with Google. ~ Bindu Reddy
