Google Challenges Bing with New Capabilities 💪

Google is bringing AI-generated images and writing assistant into Search Generative Experience (SGE), rivaling Bing with DALL.E-3.

Key Highlights:

• Powered by Google’s text-to-image model Imagen, SGE now lets users generate images from text prompts, providing up to four generated images which can be further modified to add more details. This capability is also available directly in Google Images. The AI-generated images will carry metadata labels and embedded watermarking to indicate their origin.

• Google's upcoming 'About this image' tool aims to facilitate users in evaluating the context and authenticity of images by providing information on their original sources and related web pages.

• SGE will also support creating tailored written drafts by integrating information gathered during their search journeys and modify them further. It also allows exporting these drafts seamlessly to Google Docs or Gmail.

Character.AI, the a16z-backed AI chatbot startup, has launched a group chat feature, allowing users to engage in conversations with both human friends and AI characters simultaneously. Users can create unique group chats, bringing together AI scientists, mythological gods, or other personalities to facilitate engaging discussions.

• Policies trained on the diverse tasks generated by GenSim showcase remarkable improvements in generalization, exhibiting a 25% enhanced transfer to unseen long-horizon tasks in the real world.

Generative AI in Formula E Races for Real-Time Data 🏎️

Formula E has integrated generative AI technology from Google Cloud and McKinsey QuantumBlack to provide a conversational interface for both drivers and fans, ushering in a new era of data-driven decision-making and engagement within the racing world.

Key Highlights:

• The system includes a custom backend service for handling questions and a frontend UI built in collaboration with McKinsey QuantumBlack. It is deployed using Google Kubernetes Engine, ensuring seamless data integration and superior performance.

• The gen AI logic is built on Google's PaLM 2 API for chat, which is supported by additional context from structured and unstructured data using tools like BigQuery, Vertex AI, and Langchain.

• Built by a small team in just two weeks, the system was used in the final race weekend of the 2023 Championship season where over 700 questions were answered, catering to newcomers, veterans and drivers.
